At the end of 2003, tribal skirmishes broke out at Heraale district between two neighboring clans. These tribes had along historical relationship, but disputes arised on grazing land and water points. These two conflicting clans are Marehaan and Fiqi Mohamed, also Ethiopian intervention accelerated the conflict.

However, Peace Campaign Group (PCG) intervened the situation in late 2004 to bring back peace, stability and harmony to the community in Heraale district, but unfortunately the Ethiopian government was supporting one group hence, the peace broken into fierce fighting which has taken away the lives of almost four hundred people (400) and an estimated loss of property.

Galgadud regional administration had approached a written appeal dated 18/11/004 to Peace Campaign Group asking immediate intervention to the situation. PCG requested a financial support from STS International Solidarity to facilitate the travel and accommodation of three delegates from PCG to Galgadud region. And within no time STS International Solidarity responded and provided the requested amount of $1000 (one thousand us dollars) to take part in the long struggle of bringing back peace and lull to Somalia .

When the PCG deleg ation reached Galgadud region, they immediately started their peace mission and met the elders of the two sides.

It has been dec ided every group to send 30 delegates to the negotiation table that negotiation has taken place at Dhusamreb regional headquarter.

•  Cease-fire under auspicious of PCG delegation and other observers from the region.

•  To re-open all the roads linking between the tw o districts in order to encourage the interaction of the society.

•  To avoid any violations which can breakdown the fragile ceasefire.

•  To hold an immediate meeting of the traditional leaders of the two sides to discuss the means and ways to bring back internal displaced people to their home of origin

•  To request from International relief agencies to provide necessary logistics.

Imam Abdiqani Shire (traditional leader) said "I am very happy today about this historical agreement and I hope that we will strict to it"

Fadumo Adam said "We have lost in every conflict our family leaders and loved once, therefore, I would like to address our traditional leaders to encourage peace and unity to the warring parties.
