More than forty local organizations of different Somali civil society organizations, have organized this world peace day celebrations including Peace Campaign Group (PCG) which has taken a lions share in organizing and contributing to this celebration on this great day.
PCG encourages and welcomes any step taken for the creation of social integration and peaceful atmosphere in Somalia .
This celebration has been organized as a gesture of sharing the common sentiment towards this historical day with our counterparts in the world and to exchange ideas supporting the Somali peace process.
People attended there were fr om Somali civil society organizations, STS umbrella member organizations, school children, spiritual religious leaders, political groups, famous poetries, youth, intellectuals, women organizations.
At the opening of the ceremony, Sheik Nor Barud has opened it with a speech in which he had told that Islam religion enjoins peaceful co-existence so that needed from the people to stay away from any thing motivating hostility and to strengthen peace.
The Chairman of the organizing committee, Mr. Ga'al Abkow speaking there told that peace is the key of life and wanted Banadir region inhabitants to unify for working on it.
PCG Chairman Mr. Asad in his speech at the venue on the commemoration day for peace has stated that it is not to get together on such these days but needed to meet regularly and co-operate as to ensure our country to become a peaceful country.
Among those spoke there was PCG reconciliation officer Mr. Mohammed Abdi Mohammed who has expressed great concern about the renewed inter clan fighting in Jubba valley and certain parts in central regions, calling the participants to stand for the prevention of further clashes.
