Furthermore, the local community experienced civil war, persistent droughts and diseases. Over the years they have not received any assistance from the national as well as the international organisations.
Most drought-affected Somali community are in hard condition, the local community can afford to buy food due to poor quality of livestock which was the only the way they use get income source that coupled with inflation of the food price and pan of Somali livestock from Arabian (Golf) countries according to the community leaders. Some food is available in the local markets but purchasing power is limited, malnourished children, women and old age are already visible and SORDA Team has observed during the assessment. Cattle death toll was estimated to be more then 70%, goats 50% and camel 30% which is the most drought resistant animal in Somalia . Water well and Water reservoirs were empty due to inadequate rains for four consecutive years, which resulted migration of people and their livestock, internal displaced slams were observed in the main districts .
