A Commemoration for 56th Anniversary of Human Rights Day 10 Dec. 2004


A large conglomeration dedicated for commemoration for 56th Anniversary of Human Rights Days 10 Dec 2004 has been held in Mogadishu .

This large gathering has been organized by Peace Campaign Group in collaboration with all civil society organizations and different classes of Somali people, namely: singers, medical doctors, women, students, teachers, professors and religious leaders.

 

A historic speech has been made, pointing out the various states that the human rights passed by and how harshly it has been violated. The speech remarked the mishaps that Somalis has been suffering from while the vulnerable class of the society, children and women, have been the real victims of such violations against human rights.

The script there addressed has reminded the participants that Somali Republic is a member of countries singed The International Declaration of Human Rights at the same year that Somalia gained its independence from colonials in 1960, though this pledge has not yet been exercised on the ground as it should be.

It was read out that there is no a bit of care for human rights in Somalia now since it remains common to experience any kind savage actions around the country such killing, raping, kidnapping, blundering, displacing, etc..

In Somalia , all norms has been dishonored whether they are the local traditional culture of peace, or the International laws, or the religious values of peace and harmony in Islam.

In the statement, all advocates of Human rights have been much thanked and acknowledged how patient and brave they proved to undertake their responsibilities under one of the most horrible atmospheres in the world.

The role of PCG has been appreciated in the speech and how it always encourages programs focusing on Human Rights Education so that the Somali society enjoy sufficient knowledge of their rights because this will help them defend their rights by themselves..

The international community has been earnestly asked to stand by and recognize the advocates of human rights of the society that currently has begun to flourish throughout the country. Really this is a beautiful stalk that needs much care to grow up.

The political interference from some neighbor countries has been underlined. The statement remarked that this interference always leads to the deterioration of situation in the country, by helping fuel the civil wars and violations of human rights, international laws and the independence of the country.

In the statement, all Somalis have been implored to stand for keeping the human rights so that everyone could enjoy justice and everlasting peace in the country.

On behalf of Medical Doctors Dr. Abdisamad Abdullahi has imparted to participants a well applauded words. He specially pointed out how harshly the Somali children have been treated. The doctor asked his al Somali counterparts to sacrifice to save Somali children by granting them free diagnosis and treatment. He pledged on the spot that his clinic will commence one day in a week for free charge treatment of the children

On the same occasion, a well known national singer, Ms. Saynab Haji Ali Baxsan who had showed her joy in participation, talked about with deep remorse the hazards Somalis has undergone for more than a decade. Ms. Saynab asked the Somali singers and poets wherever they are, to invent more literature on Human Rights that enable Somalis to understand and defend their rights.
