INTRODUCTION:
The official name of the organization is Peace Campaign Group (PCG-Somalia) and has been officially established in January 2001 in Mogadishu, Somalia. The organization head quarter is Mogadishu, Somalia and have branch offices in almost every region in the country. The symbol of Peace Campaign Group organization is white dove circled by green leaves. One hundred delegates of Somali intellectuals have founded the PCG organization that came ethnically from different groups of the country. PCG organization had a board of leadership that consists of chairman, vice chairman, secretary and treasurer. It has also an executive committee of fourteen members including PCG regional representatives.PCG does a local humanitarian work such as: peace negotiations and public awareness towards conflict and peace it also plays a very important role in keeping and care taking of the humanitarian rights in Somalia
ORGANIZATION OBJECTIVES:
Prevention and reconciliation of conflicts Appealing and advocating for human rights in Somalia, To organize work shops to teach the people the conflict resolution techniques to avoid human rights violations in Somalia, To imply public awareness on conflicts and human rights declarations in public gatherings, To encourage peace negotiations and criticize human rights violations, Campaigning to form a system of good governance based on public democracy, Lobbing to encourage the public to take part in the decision making process, To coordinate civil society organizations who are involved in peace building, democracy and human rights in Somalia
PRINCIPLES OF THE ORGANIZATION: Impartiality, Compromise, Accountability, Credibility, Transparency, Peaceful means, Internal democracy, Supporting peace and human rights campaigners, Not to support political parts, ideologically and economically, Encouraging voluntary work, Campaigning for collaborations and good neighborhood among regional community
ACHIEVMENTS OF THE ORGANIZATION: PCG has succeeded the following peace activities from 2003-2004: Peace resolutions in deferent parts of the country such as Mogadishu, Baidoa, Hiiraan and Diinsoor, Big peace rallies took place in Mogadishu, Participation in human rights marking days, Fruitful public awareness in different parts of the country, Many young people benefit skills and good custom from our capacity building work shops.
Since 2001 PCG was very active member of STS Somalia umbrella. PCG gets moral and financial support from STS International Solidarity
