Introduction:

Somali Rehabilitation and Development Association (SORDA) is Somali non- governmental non-political and non-profit making development organization focusing on livestock, agriculture, income generation activities and Peace and human right organization, the philosophy of the organization is to improve the living standard of the Somali community. SORDA is an active organization established in Jun 1993 by group of determined educated Somalis responding to their moral obligation regarding miserable conditions of Somali community. The organization board of directors consisting businesspersons, intellectuals and women.

Persistent civil war, poverty and natural climates affected the Somali community both male and female simultaneously. Thus, SORDA in a consideration of that plight is determined firmly to concentrate on these basic urgent problems.

SORDA has its own written organizational standard policies and procedures to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to maintain the required duties to meet their objectives and improve the collaboration with national and international organization as well as donors.

Further more, SORDA benefited CARE 's Institutional strengthen project (ISP) for one year. SORDA is member of Peace and Human right network (PHRN) also is partner with STS international solidarity since 2001 and implemented with remarkable projects.

Objective of the organization:
•  To create income generation programs for those affected by natural and man made disasters.
•  To collaborate with national and international organizations in all their efforts to accessibility to promote peace and development activities in operational areas of the organization.
•  To take an active role in the rehabilitation and development programs in SORDA geographical area.
•  Policy and institution support at community level to help wide range of programs and security conducted by local authorities

SORDA determinedly in a pursuit of its mission, envision improved economic status by narrowing existing economic disparities achievement of economic independence and elimination of all social and other inequalities and realization of self-reliance for the most vulnerable amongst social groupings.

SORDA though its strength in a resource mobilization and advocacy is committed to strength the human dignity and well being of the economically poor, socially marginalized and victims of war.

SORDA dedicates all its effort and resource in poverty alleviated by empowering these target beneficiaries, though beneficial skill development and provisioning access to financial assistance to the most fragile and venerable amongst communities improved agriculture practice (extension messages) for those involving raring and tiling the land amongst community.
