The name of the movement is Union of Somali cooperatives Movement (USCM) it has been established by different cooperatives in different assets such as:

•  Handcraft
•  Cloth weavers
•  Salt cooperatives
•  Clearance and forwarding cooperatives
•  Porters cooperatives
•  Metal smiths
•  Agricultural cooperatives
•  Coal cooperatives
•  Fishing cooperatives

In 1999 in Mogadishu , Somalia . The movement has a big board of leadership consisting of two members from every section then the addition have been elected by a Chairman so, that the Chairman will also appoint Vice Chairman, Secretary and treasurer from the members.

The Objectives of the Movement is as the Following:

•  to encourage and inspect the cooperatives
•  to distribute the benefits in a fare and equal system
•  to protect and take utmost care of the natural resource like: forest, wild animals and the environment
•  to create a peaceful ground for the cooperatives to hall their jobs peacefully
•  to protect the rights different cooperatives workers
•  to expand into further cities and towns
•  to modernize the marketing system at all cooperatives production locally and abroad
•  to strengthen the services giving to cooperatives such as: training, loans, spare parts and seek International Aid for their in danger ring projects

The movement had been established to improve the working standard of the different cooperatives. Although some of the cooperatives had been exists and working during Siyad Bare Government but, most of them had been established after breakdown of civil war. USCM had joined STS Somalia member organizations in 2002
