INTRODUCTION:

The name of the organization is Youth Development Center (YDC) its symbol is a blue star decorated with green leaves, a book a pen and a torch of light at its center.

Young intellectuals from ethnically different clans have established YDC on 15, May 1998 in Mogadishu , Somalia .

Youth development center has offices in four districts in Banadir region. It is a non-profitable organization.

The mission of the organization is to enhance the living standard of poor and helpless Somali young generation by improving their educational capacity and to also strengthen the capacity and coping mechanism of the target activities to deal with supporting daily income generation and resources. The mission of the organization is also to demobilize the warning young militias and to open them workshops to teach them skills.

THE GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF YDC

• To establish and improve services and systems to increase living conditions of the vulnerable Somali youth
• Enhance educational capacities improving through small scale suitable training for their level
• Reduce poverty and malnutrition through socio-economics the targeting communities

YDC joined the membership of STS Somalia umbrella in March 2004.
